Becky and John were married on a beautiful, windy afternoon at Heinz Chapel in Oakland with their reception held right down the block at The Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall. Becky and John are both in the military, currently stationed in Korea and planned their extremely long distance wedding marvelously.
John relaxed with his groomsmen (each traveled from a different state) watching football and Becky was all jokes and smiles after arriving from her hair appointment. Braving then wind, the girls walked to the chapel as Becky led the way.
Their ceremony was not only dramatic but fun as well, mimicking both of their personalities. Laid back and calm, their big moment wasn’t too big for either of them.
After taking advantage of the perfect late afternoon light for some portraits around Oakland, Becky and John captivated their guests with a perfect first dance. Soldiers and Sailors is a classic, two story venue with an incredible feel and history to go with it. Being relatively new to Pittsburgh, I was excited and surprised to learn that one of the most famous scenes from the film Silence of the Lambs was filmed in the center of the room!
When they weren’t tearing up the dance floor, the newlyweds were all over the venue greeting their guests and enjoying every minute. After a romantic last dance where the remaining guests circled around Becky and John, the ended the evening with a sparkler sensors that had their guests a bit too excited, with a hysterical scene of dozens of sparklers being lit within the hall before the got outside!
They honeymooned in Hawaii, on their way back to Korea. Congratulations Becky and John, we are thrilled for you both!!
